Launched last year in June, our free series of talks continues exploring Europa Nostra Award-winning projects and heritage community initiatives that are of particular interest for the UK.
This recording from our most recent webinar on February 1st 2024 shows CEO, Graham Hickey speaking to Europa Nostra UK about how Dublin Civic Trust managed the restoration of 18 Ormond Quay Upper, an 1840s merchant building in the historic centre of Dublin.
In 2021 Dublin Civic Trust received the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award 2021 for this incredible restoration, which was carried out by the Trust over a three-year period from 2017 as a demonstration project under its ‘revolving fund’ mechanism, showing how historic buildings in the centre of Dublin can be sensitively restored with a residential component. It is the eighth building the Trust has restored since its foundation in 1992 and the first award Ireland has won in Europa Nostra’s conservation category since the Office of Public Works was awarded in 2005 for its restoration of the Victorian Great Palm House complex in the National Botanic Gardens.
Next up in this webinar series – an introduction to The Friends of Czech Heritage, a British charity campaigning to raise funds for the repair and conservation of the substantial legacy of historic buildings and their contents, artefacts, gardens and parks in Czechia.
Thursday, 28 Mar 2024 17:30 – 18:30 GMT details and registration via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/europa-nostra-uk-27713374103
We will be joined by Peter Jamieson, the Chair, who will outline the charity’s history and links with the UK as well as showcasing some of their success stories, highlighting the impact the organisation has been able to make in preserving Czech heritage.
