Calling all Europhiles and Heritage Enthusiasts…

Europa Nostra UK needs you!

Do you care about our shared European cultural heritage and want to take an active role in promoting cultural links between the UK and Europe?

Europa Nostra UK is currently looking for new trustees to join its governing committee. We run on a totally voluntary basis, so we need trustees who are prepared to initiate and lead on ideas and projects.

We are specifically looking for trustees to help support the following tasks:

  • maintaining the ENUK website and our online comms,
  • looking after our finances and seeking sponsorship,
  • editing the quarterly ENUK Newsletter (using Mailchimp),
  • helping to coordinate and host our webinar programme,
  • coordinating UK support for the prestigious Europa Nostra Awards (which includes liaising with Europa Nostra in The Hague, promoting applications from the UK, finding awards assessors, and promoting UK winners),
  • and leading/expanding our work with Young Members (EN membership is free for those between 18 and 33) through which we aim to provide networking opportunities, careers advice, and access to leaders in the heritage sector.

You do not have to be a current member of Europa Nostra in order to be nominated to become a trustee but you would be expected to join. We are particularly keen to encourage younger applicants in line with our commitment to involving our Young Members in the leadership of our organisation. You do not need to live in the UK to become a trustee with ENUK.

The committee currently meets quarterly, in addition to our annual AGM, with shorter ‘operational’ meetings dotted in-between as required. Meetings are generally held online towards the end of the working day.

Becoming a trustee of ENUK offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in charity governance and will allow you to expand your skills and professional networks. You don’t need to have any previous experience of being a trustee in order to join our committee as we will ensure that you are supported by existing trustees.

If this appeals to you then please send an expression of interest, and any questions you may have, to our current chair, Sara Crofts (europanostrauk@gmail.com)

Even if you are not personally inclined to join the committee please spread the word through your own networks, and encourage any friends and colleagues who might be interested.
